These are hard to find and are originally from China. Mixed colors of fawn, blue and black and a few solid browns. Runner ducks are small, quiet and active foragers and lay many large eggs. They keep together in a tight rapidly moving flock which is interesting to watch.
These ducks don't make a nuisance of themselves like other ducks which foul your pond all day and then camp outside your back door when they get hungry.
Runner ducks are easily trained to lay in a hutch and are good sitters. They are excitable and not a good "petting duck" like the Blue Swedish variety who often act like dogs. They lay from 60 to 90 eggs a year but don't need a lot of food. They thrive on the COB we feed the beef stockers.
